In August, we had the pleasure of hosting a very special charity event for an incredibly inspirational lady called Francesca.
Francesca is an honorary Auntie to Henry, a little boy who passed away almost a year ago, and who resides with us at Brightwater.
Francesca is also a children’s palliative care nurse, and as such, knows the impact a poorly child can have on a family. She therefore decided to cycle around all 54 children’s hospices across the UK, in the hope of raising over £500K for Together for Short Lives.
Henry had been looked after at a local hospice called Demelza House. There are two branches of Demelza; one in Sittingbourne and one in Eltham. So on the day of the ride between the two hospices, Francesca decided to take a detour to stop off at Brightwater to visit Henry en route. And what an emotional day that was! We have added a few photos for you to take a look.
So far, Francesca has raised over £60,000… If you would like to make a donation or find out more about Henry and Francesca’s story, please visit www.chatukproject.com
